The Ungrateful Servant
Speaker

Jesus went to the cross because of our debts; he went to prison because of our debts.
– On the way to the cross, he was beaten, whipped, tormented, humiliated, and stripped bare for you and me.
– The debts we owed were debts of justice, debts of holiness, debts of authenticity, debts of genuine forgiveness, debts of true love, debts of genuine sacrifice.
– Jesus came to earth to show us the right path in order to please God the Father.
– He came to introduce us to spiritual matters. He came for the people, and the people were rejected.
– The debts we owed to God were a lack of love and forgiveness. When we refuse to forgive the offenses of our brothers and sisters.
– If we refuse to do what is right for our brothers and sisters, then it is Jesus we are burdening. Our debts have become so numerous and heavy that Jesus, our Master and Creator, came to pay the price on the cross to give us freedom.
– God, in His great mercy, has forgiven us all our sins, but we refuse to do the same for our neighbor.
– If God forgives our offenses, and others also forgive us our offenses, and we, in turn, refuse to forgive others, then we are ungrateful, ungrateful servants.
– Let us do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
– Many of us forgive without forgetting. When we truly forgive, we make that person our friend, welcoming them and drawing them closer to God.
– Let us love our enemies and pray for them so that they may not be an entry point for attacks on our lives
